Potential FREYR Battery, Inc. (NYSE:FREY) shareholders may wish to note that the Chief Financial Officer, Evan Calio, recently bought US$249k worth of stock, paying US$1.91 for each share. However, it only increased shareholding by a small percentage, and it wasn't a huge purchase by absolute value, either.
FREYR Battery Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In fact, the recent purchase by Evan Calio was the biggest purchase of FREYR Battery shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$2.30. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Does FREYR Battery Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Insiders own 11% of FREYR Battery shares, worth about US$32m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At FREYR Battery Tell Us?
It is good to see the recent insider purchase. And the longer term insider transactions also give us confidence. But we don't feel the same about the fact the company is making losses. Given that insiders also own a fair bit of FREYR Battery we think they are probably pretty confident of a bright future. In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing FREYR Battery.
