The Dow traded down 0.21% to 42,216.81 while the NASDAQ fell 0.55% to 18,982.63. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.39% to 5,813.49.

In trading on Tuesday, health care shares tumbled by 1%.

U.S. producer prices rose 0.2% month-over-month in December compared to 0.4% in November, and versus market estimates of 0.3%.

  • Firefly Neuroscience, Inc. (NASDAQ:AIFF) shares shot up 141% to $4.5810 after the company announced the advancement of research to assess a patient's brain age using its BNA technology platform.
  • Shares of Nature’s Miracle Holding Inc. (NASDAQ:NMHI)got a boost, surging 177% to $3.13. Nature’s Miracle Holding announced that it entered into a Securities Purchase Agreement with a single institutional investor on Jan. 10, 2025.
  • H&E Equipment Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:HEES) shares were also up, gaining 106% to $90.46 after United Rentals announced it will acquire the company for $92 per share in cash.

  • Phio Pharmaceuticals Corp. (NASDAQ:PHIO) shares dropped 40% to $3.98 after the company announced a $3.19 million registered direct offering.
  • Shares of Signet Jewelers Limited (NYSE:SIG) were down 20% to $59.08 after the company reported a drop in total same store sales for the holiday season and lowered its fourth-quarter guidance.
  • Mustang Bio, Inc. (NASDAQ:MBIO) was down, falling 31% to $0.1534 after the company announced a 1-for-50 reverse stock split.

In commodity news, oil traded down 1% to $78.07 while gold traded down 0.1% at $2,677.50.

Silver traded up 0.1% to $30.345 on Tuesday, while copper rose 0.1% to $4.3290.

Euro zone

European shares were mostly higher today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 rose 0.08%, Germany's DAX 40 gained 0.69% and France's CAC 40 gained 0.50%. Spain's IBEX 35 Index gained 0.54%, while London's FTSE 100 slipped 0.17%.

Asian markets closed mixed on Tuesday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 falling 1.83%, China's Shanghai Composite Index jumping 2.54%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gaining 1.83% and India's BSE Sensex rising 0.22%.
