The Transport Authority impounds foreign trucks in violation and imposes strict penalties.

Riyadh - Mubasher: The General Transport Authority (GTA), with the support of security authorities, conducted an inspection campaign that resulted in the seizure of three foreign trucks for illegally transporting goods within the Kingdom. The trucks were fined SAR 10,000, as part of its oversight efforts to regulate the land transport sector and ensure an organized and safe transport environment that contributes to enhancing the efficiency of supply chains and raising the competitiveness of the logistics sector.

The Authority affirmed its strict commitment to enforcing the regulations against violators, noting that penalties will be graded according to the number of violations committed. A fine of 10,000 riyals will be imposed, along with the truck being impounded for 15 days for the first violation. The penalties will double for repeat violations, reaching 20,000 riyals, with the truck being impounded for 30 days for the second violation, 40,000 riyals, with the truck being impounded for 60 days for the third violation, and 80,000 riyals for the fourth violation, with the impoundment continuing for 60 days.

If the violation is committed for the fifth time, a fine of 160,000 riyals will be imposed, along with the truck being impounded for 60 days. Penalties also include the confiscation of trucks that deliberately repeat violations and fail to comply with regulations.

The Authority emphasized its continued efforts to intensify field monitoring and take firm action against violators, to limit the exploitation of regulations and prevent any violations that could affect fair competition, road safety, and the efficiency of the logistics sector.

It also affirmed its commitment to the highest standards of governance and transparency to enhance the transportation environment, support local carriers, and improve the quality of logistics services, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, which contributes to the development of this vital sector and enhances its role in the national economy.
