Riyadh - Mubasher: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has maintained its seat on the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) since 1997. This comes as a continuation of the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance international peace and security, including the full implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and an extension of its consistent approach to enhance international cooperation efforts to ban all weapons of mass destruction, prevent their proliferation, and meet their requirements at the national and international levels. The Kingdom is one of the first countries to sign the Convention in 1993.

Prince Julawi bin Turki, Chargé d'Affaires at the Kingdom's Embassy in the Netherlands and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the brotherly and friendly countries that supported the Kingdom's re-election to the Council for the term 25/2/2027, according to the Saudi Press Agency "SPA", today, Thursday.

He stressed that this reflects the confidence of the member states of the agreement in the Kingdom's role in the organization and its effectiveness, stressing that this consolidates the Kingdom's position on the regional and international arenas.
